The elderly population is increasing worldwide. Depending on aging, changes in various parts of the body such as cardiovascular, respiratory and musculoskeletal changes occur, resulting in a decrease in physical activity. This lack of physical activity is a risk factor for many chronic / degenerative diseases, and increasing physical activity can improve overall quality of life by improving function as well as physical fitness. However, in the elderly, the physical ability to adapt to exercise intensity is decreased, resulting in various sports injuries. Elderly patients are more likely to have overuse injuries than acute injuries and an appropriate early treatment is needed as with young adults. In addition, it is most important to avoid the detrimental effects of prolonged immobilization in treating elderly people. The best treatment of sports injuries is prevention. The prevention can be achieved through adequate warm up and cool down, proper exercise programs and the use of appropriate equipment.
